Manish Malhotra
Manish Malhotra did not simply dress Bollywood. He gave it a visual language, and in doing so, gave an entire generation of South Asian women a new idea of what glamour could look like. His work is built on India's finest embroidery traditions, the needlework of Lucknow, the threadwork of Kashmir, the sequin and crystal work that catches light the way jewels do, rendered into garments that feel less like clothing and more like theatre. The drama is always intentional. The emotion is always present. He has said that fashion should feel like an extension of the person wearing it, and his clothes carry that belief in every bead and every stitch. There is no one else who does what he does, and the industry has known it for thirty years.
